
Robert Tyszko
Meet Dr. Robert Tyszko (Peterborough, NH)
Robert Tyszko, O.D., received his Doctor of Optometry from the New England College of Optometry in Boston in 1993. He completed a postgraduate optometry residency in ocular disease at the New England College of Optometry in 1994. He earned his Bachelor of Arts from the University of New Hampshire in 1989.
Dr. Tyszko brings extensive clinical and leadership experience to his practice. From 1994 to 1999, he served as Chief of Optometry at the Tucson Area Indian Health Service. He later served as a Clinical Instructor at the University of Arizona College of Medicine before returning to private practice in New Hampshire.
Dr. Tyszko has also served in the New Hampshire Army National Guard, including a mobilization for Operation Enduring Freedom from 2004 to 2006. During his service at Martin Army Community Hospital at Fort Benning, Georgia, he served as Executive Officer of the Eye, Ear, Nose and Throat Clinic and Director of Optometric Clinical Education. He currently holds the rank of Colonel and serves as Commander of the New Hampshire Army National Guard’s Medical Detachment. He also serves on the Board of Joint Pharmaceutical Formulary and Credentialing Committee for the State of New Hampshire.
His clinical experience includes treating glaucoma, refractive errors, strabismus, amblyopia, and diabetic retinopathy, with a particular interest in novel approaches to treating dry eye. Dr. Tyszko has also published numerous scholarly articles in leading optometry and vision research journals.
Outside of practice, Dr. Tyszko lives in Amherst, New Hampshire, with his wife, daughter, dog, and cats. He enjoys exercise and competitive cycling.
